The prophets long ago spoke of a time to come When a virgin would conceive and would bring forth a Son. The greatness of this Child no tongue can fully tell, For He would be called Immanuel.
Immanuel, our God is with us. The High and Holy One with men has come to dwell. Eternal life, unending joy, and perfect peace come to us in Immanu el. God with us to feel our weakness, God with us, our sorrows to share, God with us to face all our temptations, God with us, our burdens to bear. The One who took on flesh that Christmas long ago in His body suffered death that we His life may know. Yet now He lives and reigns; with us His Spirit dwells, And so He is still Immanuel. Immanuel, our God is with us. The High and Holy One with men has come to dwell. Eternal life, unending joy and perfect peace come to us in Immanuel. Come to us in Immanuel.
He is the Word made flesh, He is the great I Am, The Shepherd of our souls, our Sacrificial Lamb. The fullness of our God now in an infant dwells, And so He is called Immanuel.
